Gavril Pop (b. 1998, Timișoara, lives and works in Timișoara) works around the building of perception systems and visual languages. Guided by subconscious impulses, he explores and reconfigures these elements to configure new meanings and stories. Using discarded materials, such as book covers, maps, textiles, or paper, Gavril gives them a new life, combining pre-existing marks with his own geometric language and symbols. His process aims to turn these signs into visual sentences, reflecting a continuous exploration of meaning, narrative, and self-interpretation, while emphasizing processes of learning and arcane knowledge systems. The work is conceived as an ongoing process, a method of interacting with elements of the world and translating those observations into indexes. Each piece functions as an index, suggesting a next step in a process comparable to writing. The works gradually unfold in a simple, perceptible manner.

At this moment, the main focus of his practice dwells in the study of religions, belief systems, and violence. The exploration of religious experience resides within a realm of deconstruction, drawing parallels to gnostic and mystical scriptures, primarily in a formal sense. These texts serve as tools for examining identity, uncovering marginal histories, and speculating on possible futures.
